CHOICES Says “EVERYBODY HAS CHOICES”
CHOICES "Get On Track For Career, Education & Life" Seminar - Montego Bay - Thursday October 28
As we continue to arrange the programme for our CHOICES "Get On Track For Career, Education & Life" seminar in Montego Bay at the West Jamaica Conf. Centre on Thursday October 28, we encourage you to make plans for your students to attend. This event is for those in Hanover, St. James, St. Ann, Trelawny and Westmoreland. The cost will be $150 for students while one adult accompanying students will enter free. We expect schools to bring an average of 30 students but you may indicate to us if you plan to bring a larger group so that we can accommodate them comfortably.
The event will run from 9a.m. - 3p.m. and will include an exhibition by many educational institutions including the UWI; UTECH; CIT; UCC; The YES Programme, Tax Administration Services, Versan, Seneca College from Canada, The Ministry of Health and others, and talks on relevant subjects.
LEADERSHIP TRAINING
A special feature of the event will be a leadership training workshop for students being staged as part of the event by The Jamaica Youth Coalition, a youth advocacy group. Up to 50 students in the 14-18 age group will be trained in "Goal Setting in the Context of Student Leadership”. The students will discuss the benefits and advantages of goal setting for personal success and for developing and implementing projects for their school and otherwise.
We invite you to select 4 students from your school within the age group to participate in this special 2-hour workshop. We must have their names in advance by October 22, their age and the name of the institution which they attend.
IYF PRESENTATION FOR TEACHERS/COUNSELLORS
The International Youth Fellowship (IYF) will participate in the event with a presentation for teachers and counsellors and also giving older students the opportunity of finding out more about their programmes for youth, this after the successful staging of the World Camp in August in which hundreds of Jamaican students participated. More information will come to you soon on this.
SONG CONTEST
Nurture the creativity of your students by encouraging them to enter our song contest (details attached for your notice board).
CHOICES is presenting this seminar specifically for secondary-level students, in upper level grades preparing to leave school in the near future and also those at tertiary level.
We look forward to communicating further with your school on this with details of our exciting programme, presentations, prizes, surprises, give-aways etc. and we will soon send your school a full outline of the day’s schedule so that you can help students to plan how best to spend their time during the day.
